Money raised for our charities

Thanks to participants, sponsors and volunteers, the Rainford 10K has raised a substantial amount of money for our charities. Below are certificates praising how much has been raised and their messages of thanks.

Sands – Stillbirth and national death charity

The Compassionate Friends

Thank you from us all here at Sands for your valuable support; without people like you dedicating your time and energies to raise these vital funds, we would struggle to continue the important work we do.

The very nature of our work means we are dealing daily with bereaved parents; their families and friends, all of whom are struggling to come to terms with the death of their baby. Bereavement support is at the core of everything we do. Some of the services that we offer include:

  • Helpline for parents, families, carers and health professionals
  • UK-wide network of support groups run by trained befrienders
  • Online forum and message boards enabling bereaved families to connect with others
  • Website and a wide range of booklets, books and other resources.

We work in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care. We offer resources and a comprehensive programme of training, workshops and talks for health professionals that give practical guidance on how to meet parents’ needs and provide good bereavement care.

We promote and fund research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. The UK has one of the highest rates of perinatal death in the developed world. We raise vital funds for research and campaign for the government to address this situation as a matter of priority.

Donations like yours are incredibly important as we depend almost solely on the extraordinary energies and generosity of our supporters to raise the funds we need each year to deliver the wide range of services that we offer across the UK.

So again, on behalf of everyone at Sands, thank you, we really do value your support.

We were stunned at the incredible total of over £2500 pounds from proceeds of the race, well over your total for the 2014 event. This was such a tremendous amount to raise, for which we are so very grateful.

I am enclosing our receipt for your records and a certificate of appreciation, which we hope you will be able to share with all who helped make the event such a tremendous success. Please do thank all the sponsors of the event most warmly on our behalf, as well all those individuals who both raced and supported the event. We appreciate immensely all of their continuing support for The Compassionate Friends.

To lose a son or daughter is devastating- the grief is overwhelming, isolating and almost unimaginable. To parents suffering the anguish of such loss, our charity offers friendship, empathy and long-term support, given by fellow bereaved parents who themselves had been similarly comforted in their own loss. To parents facing death and despair, The Compassionate Friends provide a life-line of hope.

Please do know that financial support like yours is of great importance to our charity and ensures that we can go some way to comfort and offer hope to bereaved parents that they can survive after the heartbreaking loss of a precious, much-loved child.

Once again, Terry, please do pass on our heartfelt thanks to all who were involved in organizing and participating in the Rainford 10k and Fun Run this year. Their continued support is immensely appreciated by all of us at The Compassionate Friends.
